It’s been a slow day in many respects, but with the werather still fine we took the opportunity to catch up on some boat maintenance – including finally getting a final top coat of grey on the foredeck, complete with grippy grit to make it less like an ice skating rink.

For the past 11 days we’ve been walking around like penguins, deliberately making small, vertical steps, always being sure to keep a good hold onto something solid – a handrail, shroud, dinghy … anything – particularly when waves, rain or morning dew made things wet.
Right now, it’s very late, and everyone is in bed asleep – but the big news is that my wife Linda finally arrived in Keri Keri, with John and I driving the 30 minutes or so to pick her up – in John’s twin-cab ute, which his son Ben dropped off yesterday

So for now, I’ll let the photos do the talking and head off to bed…

I’m commenting on “the OTHER First Mate arrives”.
Great to see you actually arrived in NZ and on ‘the boat’ Linda, with the ‘big mate/Captain’

Hi Liz and Murray, great to hear from you and thanks for the encouragement! Just Linda and me on board tonight . Very quiet here in the marina. We just heard that Matt and Cathy have arrived in Auckland, they’ll be aboard next Saturday. And James and Eva are coming from the ACT and are rescheduling to fly here next week through Melb, instead of Sydney. It’s a funny ol’ world! Take care and hope you are keeping well … did I hear Richmond got beat by StKilda the other day?? Muz still in therapy? Cheers Rob

Hi Bev, really great to hear from you and glad you’re enjoy the daily updates. Just Linda and me onboard tonight here in the marina . we are making dinner. Very simple and domestic, quite a change from the past month of daily travel, almost a new island anchorage every day. We’ve now got Matt & Cathy (from Melb) plus James and Eva (from ACT) coming over from Australia and will be onboard next Saturday. Hopefully we can continue to dodge the COVI bullets.
Lots of Love

Hello Linda, Rob and Co. At last I managed to get the log. All the scenery looks beautiful. I had a few days in Bendigo, with Rebecca, last week and also saw Jessica, we went to Castlemaine one day, for lunch, and celebrated Cliffs brotherRays 80th birthday, which was in Feb.So I treated them to lunch in Castlemaine. Judy, Jess Bec, Ray and Faye. Cliff is just the same, talking about coming home, but I think he is thinking in the past, talking about somewhere for his Mum & Dad to live. I hope everything is going well, lots of loveCarmel XOXO
